![]() Forspoken on the other hand is trying to represent itself as having an amazing story and world etc. ![]() I love how little story there is to dark souls because you can just get on with killing stuff. But games should not rely on them so heavily, especially when they have the means to implement it in other ways. Also, Elden ring or any souls game cannot be put into the same category as a story driven game like forspoken or witcher. Text logs aren't going to go away any time soon, I know. Destiny was a huge culprit of having 70-80% of their world building done outside of even the game engine itself, relying on ppl to go look up the website for unlocked lore. It depends how heavily a game leans on it to fill in the gaps in their narrative. Not even bothered looking at the second one if you're lumping them both in as being the same. Overall that is a very lukewarm review and lines up with my 7/10 guesstimate of how the reviews are gonna pan out. Are we not past text logs yet? Show, don't tell! With modern technology there are so many better ways of world building than just finding text logs. did you actually read the review yourself?Īnd his last point about text logs. How is any of this good? Apart from the combat and parkour I don't see him actually praising anything else. He also says the open world stuff is more or less the same as in the demo and we've seen how boring most of that is and he also calls out the forgettable side quests. I do hope he's correct about combat being harder in the game than the demo but that's subject to each individual's skill level. All things that have been called out on this sub. In the first link the guy pretty much calls out the main points I'm worried about: hit-and-miss story, awkward VA (I think script is more to blame than VA but whatever) and the mediocre presentation.
